Quick Start Guide - Salt System

Congratulations on your new Jandy TruClear Salt System. Green Turtle has selected this product for its longevity AND ease of use.

Your complete Jandy provided user manual and instructions were left behind when our technician finished your installation. We highly recommend you fully review them and follow those instructions.

First off, make sure that you have your chlorine level balanced by using LIQUID CHLORINE prior to adding the salt and activating your equipment.  We recommend 1-2PPM.

You MUST use Stabilizer at a rate of 30-50 PPM. Chlorine can dissipate in less than 2 hours if there is no stabalizer.

Approx. salt amounts needed for start-up *

  • 6K Gallons = 150 Pounds of Salt

  • 8K gallons = 200 Pounds of Salt

  • 10K gallons = 250 Pounds of Salt

  • 12K gallons = 300 Pounds of Salt

  • 15K gallons = 375 Pounds of Salt

*Salt can be added to the pool by either mixing it in a 5 gallon bucket or poured directly over a functioning jet/return to circulate it into the water. Allow the water to circulate for 48 hours BEFORE activating your Salt System.    Ensure that piles of salt do not sit directly on the new surface.

AFTER 48 Hours of Salt Circulation, go to your control box and press the power button ONCE to go from STAND-BY mode to CHLORINATION mode. If your pool is less than 15K gallons, set the chlorination level to 40% by pressing the down button until it is at proper setting. Larger pools should be set around 60%. Over the next few days and weeks, adjust this % up or down until you arrive at the proper chlonation level you desire (between 1-3PPM).

If going on vacation, you can press the DOWN button and the SELECT button at the same time to go to LOW production.

If expecting heavy usage due to a party or a family gathering, press the UP button and the SELECT button at the same time to go to BOOST mode.

Your system will reverse polarity after every 5 hours of running to minimize the chance of calcium build-up. Even with that, it is recommended to remove and rinse the system monthly and every few months you can soak the cell in a Muriatic Acid bath (Page 23, section 6.3 for more details.)

Remember, you will still need stabilizer to maintain the chlorine levels in your pool for longer periods, especially during the summer months.
